Summary

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND-- Researchers reported at the American Physical Society meeting, held here from 13 to 17 March, that they have coaxed a layer of silicon to roll up into nanotubes, and that similar tubes can conduct and generate light--advances that might lead to devices that can be built into ordinary electronic microchips.
