COVER A solitary bee, Andrena florea, visiting a flower of Bryonia dioica. In Britain and the Netherlands, the diversity of wild bees and of the plants they pollinate have both declined. Substantial shifts have occurred in pollinator traits, with many rare and specialized pollinators (such as this species) being supplanted by fewer species of commoner generalists. See page 351.
