Summary

TOKYO-- Solar-B, a Japanese spacecraft set for launch on 23 September, will improve scientists' understanding of solar flares and coronal mass ejections, which can disrupt radio signals, fry satellite electronics, and threaten the health of astronauts who find themselves outside our planet's sheltering ionosphere.
