The announcement of the sequencing of the genome of the sea urchin Strongylocentrotus purpuratus is the latest glowing chapter in the long history of contributions from sea urchin researchers to fundamental principles of cell biology, developmental biology, and gene regulation. A poster created for the print Science presents a timeline of the past and a glimpse into the next stage of research that is being opened up through genomic insights; a PDF of that poster is available for our subscribers. We have also created, for all site visitors, an interactive version of the poster, including additional images, video, and Web resources.
