Summary

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON-- Snapshots from the 209th Meeting of the American Astronomical Society, held here from 5 to 10 January, include evidence that the Magellanic Clouds are moving fast enough to possibly escape the Milky Way galaxy's gravity, the solution to a long-standing mystery about a famous supernova, and the highest-resolution map yet of dark matter's distribution in the cosmos.
