Summary

Science lobbyists have cheered President Barack Obama's arrival at the helm of the U.S. ship of state for a host of reasons. But how long will that honeymoon last? Areas that could cause friction between the new president and the research community include compromising on greenhouse gas reductions, overselling new energy technologies, succumbing to disease politics, leading NIH over a cliff again, and ignoring his scientific advisers.
