GC-TOF Mass Spectrometer

The AccuTOF-GCv features the highest sensitivity of any gas chromatography (GC) time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer commercially available, according to the manufacturer. By combining rapid data acquisition speeds with high resolution and a high dynamic range, the AccuTOF-GCv delivers exact mass measurements for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The instrument introduces several new software features, including automatic ion source tuning, automatic drift calibration, and automatic data file conversion and export. The Tuning Assistant function optimizes ion source parameters for peak ion intensity and resolution. A new optional combination ion source eliminates the need to exchange ion sources to switch between electron impact and field ionization or field desorption ionization, for higher sample throughput, easier operation, and longer uptime.

Mass Spectrometry Systems

The LTQ Velos and LTQ Orbitrap Velos are new mass spectrometers. The LTQ Velos features an innovative dual-pressure trap and advanced ion optics that make it a fast and sensitive linear ion trap mass spectrometer. The LTQ Orbitrap Velos combines the new Velos technology with the Orbitrap mass analyzer and a new higher energy collisional dissociation cell to deliver ultrahigh resolution and accurate mass data. The outstanding data quality and sensitivity of the LTQ Velos make it suitable for analyzing complex mixtures, such as identifying low-level proteins and structural elucidation of metabolites. Similarly, the high mass accuracy of the LTQ Orbitrap Velos increases the speed and confidence of protein identification in complex samples by minimizing false positives.

Mass Spectrometry Methods

The iMethod Tests are 23 preconfigured workflows than can be downloaded to conduct mass spectrometry testing in food and water quality testing, forensic toxicology, and clinical research. The iMethods are used with the latest release of Applied Biosystems/MDS Analytical Technologies' Cliquid 2.0 Software for Routine Screening and Quantitation, which enables analysis of compounds and contaminants on their triple quadrupole and QTRAP systems. The iMethods were developed according to regulatory requirements, enabling laboratories to adopt them and eliminate the cost and work of building their own tests.

Sonocrystallization System

The Atlas SonoLab System is a high-performance, automated ultrasound system for sonocrystallization, sonomilling, and sonochemistry. The system combines the Atlas jacketed reactor platform with Prosonix's new SonoLab ultrasound technology to enable the reproducible control of crystallizations and allows selectivity of parameters such as particle size, shape, crystallinity, and polymorph. With advanced control of nucleation and growth rate, the Atlas SonoLab System can produce extremely pure results for a high-quality final product. Batch-to-batch consistency is maintained via automated control of the process parameters and nucleation, to provide reproducible results. Controlling nucleation without using external seed crystals avoids consistency issues and increases selectivity.

Extracellular Flux Analyzer

The Seahorse Extracellular Flux Analyzer is the first analytical instrument to measure the two major energy-producing pathways of the cell in a 96-well plate. It measures mitochondrial oxygen consumption and cytoplasmic glycolysis in real-time. The easy-to-use technology assays cells in minutes, using a nondestructive, label-free sensor method. The XF analyzer is designed to replace Clark-type electrodes, oxygen- or pH-sensitive dyes, and radiolabeled substrates. The analyzer can determine in vitro oxygen consumption, glycolysis, mitochondrial dysfunction, fatty acid oxidation, uncoupling, toxicity, and cell signaling in primary, adherent, tumor, and suspension cells and isolated mitochondria. It thus provides physiologically relevant in vitro measurements for obesity, diabetes, aging, and cancer studies.

Spill Control Products

The Spill-X products neutralize and eliminate a variety of chemical spills. There are four different Spill-X agents capable of handling a variety of spills, including organic and inorganic acids such as sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric, and phosphoric acids, as well as caustics, solvents, and formaldehyde. The quick action and ease of use of the products make them suitable for hazmat facilities, chemical labs, and health care labs. Generally speaking, a 50-pound pail can neutralize and solidify four to five gallons of concentrated acid. The agents are available in pails, drums, or Treatment Kit bottles. They can be applied either by using scoops to spread the powder over the spill or by using a Spill-Gun applicator. Acid spills are transformed into a solid, nonhazardous compound that can be disposed of in a landfill.
