NIH Director Francis Collins wound up his sixth week on the job with a splash last week, hosting a visit from President Barack Obama. Collins has also been busy helping to find candidates to direct the National Cancer Institute, overseeing a review of the National Children's Study, and assessing the Roadmap, the now nearly $500 million pot of money for cross-institute projects created by previous director Elias Zerhouni. Collins spoke with Science to discuss these issues and more.
