Pharmaceutical Analysis System

The PA 800 plus Pharmaceutical Analysis System is a next generation capillary electrophoresis platform designed in collaboration with biopharmaceutical development and quality control groups. The robust, easy-to-use characterization platform integrates quantitative, qualitative, and automated solutions for analysis of protein purity, charge isoform distribution, and glycan structure. The system provides precise quantitation in sodium dodecyl sulfate gel analysis, isoelectric focusing, and glycan characterization of monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic proteins. New software guides users from setup through operation in routine applications. Modular ultraviolet, photodiode array, and solid-state, laser-induced fluorescence detectors can be readily interchanged.

Intracellular Protein Kits

The In-Cell ELISA Detection Kits provide a simple and convenient method for quantifying intracellular proteins in whole cells. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit enables the simultaneous detection of two different target proteins within the same well (for example, a posttranslationally modified protein and its unmodified form), eliminating the variability caused by differences in cell plating. The kit makes use of primary antibodies to the target protein(s) and corresponding species-specific Thermo Scientific DyLight-conjugated Secondary Antibodies to monitor target protein levels. The kit is compatible with the Odyssey Infrared Imaging System. The In-Cell ELISA Colorimetric Detection Kit makes use of target-specific primary antibodies and a horseradish peroxidase–conjugated detection reagent to detect proteins of interest. To control for differences arising from cell plating, a whole-cell stain is included for normalization.

Protein Biomarker Services

NextGen Sciences' biomarkerexpress is a suite of services that move protein biomarkers through the validation and testing pipeline by addressing the bottleneck of assay development. The assay techniques, which are based on mass spectrometry technology, are applicable to a variety of sample types, including biofluids, tissues, cells, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue, and plants. The methods decrease the time and cost associated with biomarker development.

Mass Spectrometer for Proteomics

The AB Sciex 5800 is a fast, sensitive system designed to help researchers advance the discovery of disease-related biomarkers for potential use in a clinical setting. The system represents an advance in matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry technology because it enables researchers to identify up to 30 percent more proteins at a rate 10 times faster than any other MALDI system now on the market, according to the manufacturer. The system is combined with new processing software to form a complete workflow to accelerate proteomics research. The system enables scientists to identify and quantify more proteins in complex samples.

Cytokine Assays

The Bio-Plex Pro magnetic bead–based human and mouse cytokine assays increase speed and improve reproducibility in cytokine research. The immunoassays offer the full automation previously unavailable with suspension bead arrays. They are multiplex assays that offer fast and accurate performance for the detection of multiple biomarkers in a single experiment, using as little as 12.5 microliters of serum, plasma, or other body fluids.

Zone Measuring System

The ProtoCOL automatic zone measuring system has new features designed to improve the speed of analyzing single radial immunodiffusion (SRD) plates, so flu vaccines can be manufactured more rapidly. The ProtoCOL can generate results from a 16-zone SRD plate of flu vaccines in minutes, 10 times faster than manual analysis. The system's software supports 21CFR Part 11 and includes a gantry control, allowing automatic imaging of larger SRD plates when required. These innovative features make ProtoCOL suitable for increasing productivity in any good-manufacturing-practices vaccine production facility. The ProtoCOL's computer-controlled, high-resolution charge-coupled device camera captures precise zone images and its new software automatically assesses not just two points from around the circular zone (as would be done manually), but simultaneously analyzes multiple points. The software then calculates a precise average diameter measurement to accurately indicate vaccine potency.
