Last week, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced the 12 winners in the second and final round of a $180 million competitive construction grants program. The NIST program is a small component of the $787 billion stimulus package designed to revive the U.S. economy. The federal dollars leverage money already on the table: The $123 million allocated last week will make possible more than $250 million in new laboratory construction.
