Simmering tensions on the Korean Peninsula are threatening to boil over following the South's accusation last month that a North Korean submarine torpedoed and sank one of its naval ships, killing 46 sailors. The North has angrily denied the charge. But "there is no other plausible explanation," contends Yoon Duk Yong, former president of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejeon, who co-led an investigation into the incident. In an interview with Science, Yoon laid out the case against the North.
