Other forms of renewable energy are facing siting problems similar to those facing wind power (see main text). Geothermal energy can trigger earthquakes. Installing solar panels can detract from historic buildings. Building solar energy installations can threaten wildlife. And storing billions of tons of CO2 from power plants underground can pollute aquifers.
