Summary

A month after losing his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, physicist-turned-lawmaker Bill Foster has a parting message for his fellow scientists: Replace me in Congress. And he's eager to help them do it. The need for more legislators with scientific backgrounds—"More than 80% of the people running China are engineers, and you see it in their [economic] behavior," Foster says—may even serve as the basis for the next stage of his career.
