Summary

Last week was a sobering reminder, if one was needed, of why U.S. science policy is so complicated. Some parts of the scientific community received good news from Congress about the budgets of a few research agencies for the current fiscal year. The bulk of federally funded researchers heard nothing about their prospects. And the president's science adviser got hit with a fiscal two-by-four.
