Summary

One year after Republicans won control of the House of Representatives by promising to slash federal spending, the budgets of most research agencies have been left largely intact. Even more striking is a comparison of the new 2012 budgets with those from 2010, when Democrats last controlled both houses of Congress and the presidency. Science has not only held its own but actually done better than most of the rest of the federal budget.
