This week's Newsmakers are psychologist Peter Salovey and anthropologist Nicholas Dirks, who were picked to lead Yale University and the University of California, Berkeley, respectively; James Leebens-Mack, a plant biologist at the University of Georgia in Athens, who headed an initiative in which Charles Darwin won support from at least 4000 voters in the state's 10th congressional district; and Chinese science reporter Fang Shi-min and British psychiatrist Simon Wessely, who are the first to win an award honoring people who have defended sound science in the face of strong opposition.
