Summary

The fourth entry in Science's series on global research universities takes a look at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, a 3-year-old graduate research university in Saudi Arabia. Created with a large endowment with the hope of sprouting a global research powerhouse, the faculty is finding that starting from scratch can be at times fabulous and frustrating.
