Summary

A global network of scientists says it's not clear that Tamiflu can prevent complications from influenza or keep people out of the hospital, raising questions about whether governments' investments in stockpiles were a waste of money. It has also waged a vigorous campaign calling on Roche, Tamiflu's manufacturer, to make public a series of unpublished trials on the drug. But many influenza researchers believe Tamiflu is beneficial, and a new group is planning alternative review of the drug. The stakes are high, as public confidence in the drug is eroding.
