Summary

A powerful water pollution expert and administrator at China's Zhejiang University has been charged with embezzling $1.6 million in grant money. Chen Yingxu was awarded a $16 million grant from China's environment ministry in 2008 to study water remediation and management in the Lake Tai watershed. Through a scheme involving companies owned or operated by his graduate students, he allegedly pocketed a portion of the money—ending what until then had been a charmed career.
