Summary

Cholesterol, the artery-clogging molecule that contributes to cardiovascular disease, has another nasty trick up its sleeve. When metabolized by the body, it turns into a potent estrogenlike molecule that spurs the growth of breast cancer in mice, and perhaps in some women. That's the conclusion of a pair of surprising studies that shed new light on the link between obesity and cancer.
