A 2-year budget agreement pushes back the threat of sequestration but leaves scientists still wondering how much money the U.S. government will spend this year on research. Appropriations panels in both the House of Representatives and the Senate must now divvy up the additional money available for all civilian and defense agencies, and one science analyst forecasts a 2.7% boost for research and development.
