Summary

Science editors rate how well they predicted scientific areas worth watching in 2013. Cancer immunotherapy scored a big thumbs-up by emerging as Breakthrough of the Year. By contrast, Russian drilling at Lake Vostok proved inconclusive, as microbial life discovered in water from the buried Antarctic lake might be contamination from drilling equipment.
