The study of parasites that manipulate the behavior of their hosts has reached an inflection point. While new examples are emerging—one newly reported at the annual meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology involves a virus that counters sickness behavior in crickets—more and more researchers are focusing on the mechanisms making this manipulation possible.
