In science news around the world, the Smithsonian Institution announces a new virtual genomics institute, contentious U.N. climate negotiations in Lima yield a weak agreement on greenhouse gas emissions, the postpublication peer-review website PubPeer moves to quash a subpoena for anonymous user data, and an oil spill threatens wildlife in Bangladesh's mangrove-rich Sundarbans.
