In The Ethics Police?, Robert Klitzman examines problems in what we in the United States call institutional review boards (IRBs), known globally as research ethics committees, including perceived inconsistencies across committees and seemingly subjective interpretations of federal regulations. Reviewer Lainie Friedman Ross agrees with many of Klitzman's conclusions, praising the book as "well written and accessible to a broad audience," but argues that it would have been strengthened with observations of committees in action.
