Centrifuge

The Hi Cen GR is a large-volume, floor-standing refrigerated centrifuge, which has a maximum capacity of 4 × 1,000 ml and can be used with swing-out or angle rotors. Its speed of up to 18,000 rpm and g-force of 36.223 × g puts this model at the high end of performance levels. It is also possible to centrifuge small volumes at high speed in a fixed-angle rotor [10 ml tubes at 17,500 rpm (33.554 × g)]. Centrifugation of high volumes, such as 4 × 1000 ml in a swing-out rotor or 4 × 750 ml in a swing-out rotor with windshield, is also possible with this very versatile machine. Nineteen different swing-out and fixed-angle rotors are available. As is typical with many of the centrifuges, this microprocessor controlled model has a number of standard features including a maintenance free, brushless induction drive, stainless-steel chamber with additional inner guard ring, overspeed detection, imbalance detection, and cutoff.

Rotary Evaporator

The advanced RC 600 Rotary Evaporator is an efficient, robust instrument designed for intensive day-to-day use in a wide range of laboratories. Its well-planned ergonomic design and intuitive control interface ensure ease of use, allowing rapid user familiarity and straightforward operation. For maximum operator safety, a simple flask exchange mechanism and an easy-to-pour heating bath are incorporated, and there is minimal exposed tubing. The SCC 950 offers precise, cost-effective vacuum control of two separate processes concurrently, and is perfect for simultaneous operation of two RC 600 Rotary Evaporators. For laboratories with an uncontrolled vacuum source, the VC 900 is ideal. It allows existing pumps from KNF and other manufacturers—as well as central vacuum sources—to be upgraded, enabling accurate control of vacuum processes. The N 920 G diaphragm vacuum pump features an integrated gas ballast valve for superior handling of aggressive gases and vapors.

Gold Nanoparticles

A highly monodisperse, premium line of Gold NanoSpheres specially designed for use in lateral flow assays is available in a range of different sizes for improved assay performance. The particles offer a combination of high cherry red contrast and optimal surface area (to minimize wasted targeting biomolecules) for effective and efficient analyte testing. Thorough characterization data and lot-specific transendothelial migration (TEM) images are included with every product. The gold nanoparticles can be synthesized at 10–25X higher concentrations as compared to traditional protocols to boost assay sensitivity. Scale-up to larger volumes is offered without any compromise on particle monodispersity and quality. The monodispersity in shape and size along with minimal batch-to-batch variations ensure data quality and consistency for assay developers, dramatically enhancing lateral flow assay sensitivity and reliability. Custom conjugation of antibodies, aptamers, and proteins on the particle surface and personalized tech support for assay development are also available.

Gene Expression Assay

The QuantiGene Singleplex assay is designed for polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-free gene expression measurement and now includes a 384-well format that is easily automatable for high-throughput (HT) compound screening. The easy-to-use, high-sensitivity assay measures gene expression with minimal sample preparation, using branched DNA for signal amplification. A key feature of the assay is that it does not require RNA or DNA purification, reverse transcription, or PCR amplification, so biases and sample losses resulting from these preparation steps are eliminated. This robust assay, also available in a 96-well format, can directly detect gene expression changes as small as 10 percent. The Z-factors of the QuantiGene Singleplex HT assay are consistently higher than those of other assay types such as quantitative PCR. Ideal applications for the QuantiGene Singleplex HT assay include compound screening in drug discovery, biomarker validation, and small interfering RNA (siRNA) knockdown studies. The assay accommodates a range of sample types, including heavily degraded and cross-linked RNA in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples and RNA in blood.

Cloning Kit

The Vivantis Flex-C Cloning kit is a highly efficient, rapid, and easy-to-use polymerase chain reaction (PCR) cloning kit. The Flex-C Enzyme allows direct cloning of any PCR fragments to any linearized expression vector at any site in a single 20-minute reaction. The application protocol is simple. The PCR fragments can be generated by PCR polymerases with primers that are designed to have at least 10 bases of homology at their linear ends. No additional treatment of the PCR fragment is required. The linearized vector can be generated by PCR or restriction enzymes. The Flex-C Enzyme joins PCR fragments and linearized vectors accurately and efficiently by recognizing the 10 base pair (bp) overlap at their ends. This method allows cloning multiple fragments into a single vector in a single reaction without subcloning. The kit is highly efficient, with a 95% insert rate. It also includes Vivantis Taq DNA Polymerase and reaction buffers as well as deoxynucleotide triphosphate (dNTP) for subsequent PCR screening of clones.
