COVER A juvenile Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus). This species, native to the southern Iberian Peninsula, is the most threatened felid in the world. Many other animals have also suffered the loss of populations and genetic diversity due to past and recent habitat destruction, introduction of disease, or competition with invasive species. See pages 1494 and 1532.
