Summary

Mathematical physicist Roger Penrose stands out as an independent thinker, who for years has been critical of a few current trends in theoretical physics and cosmology. You don't have to agree with all, or even a part, of Penrose's criticism to realize that Fashion, Faith, and Fantasy in the New Physics of the Universe represents an extremely original, rich, and thoughtful survey of today's most fashionable attempts to decipher the cosmos on its smallest and largest scales, writes reviewer Mario Livio.
