Air Condenser

The CondenSyn Mini is a high-performance air condenser optimized for small-scale synthetic chemical reactions performed in 5-mL, 10-mL, and 25-mL flasks. Just 20 cm long and fitted with a B14 adapter, the CondenSyn provides vapor condensing performance comparable to that of a Liebig condenser, but advantageously requires no cooling water for operation. While condensers cooled by circulating water are effective, their constant need for running tap water creates environmental and cost issues. The CondenSyn is an affordable, high-surface-area unit that is both safe and operationally effective. Its robust design uses a new borosilicate glass manufacturing technique, which, together with a proprietary multiple hyperbolic profile, ensures optimum heat removal as vapors pass along its length. It additionally incorporates a nonroll feature to help prevent accidents if left on a lab bench. Offering clear visibility for ongoing experimental reflux, the CondenSyn is easy to clean and maintain.

Viral Assays

The ARIES Flu A/B & RSV Assay delivers results in less than 2 hours for the detection and differentiation of three key respiratory pathogens: influenza A virus, influenza B virus, and respiratory syncytial virus using a sample-to-answer platform. The assay is a PCR-based, qualitative in vitro diagnostic test for the direct detection and differentiation of these viruses' nucleic acids in nasopharyngeal swab specimens from patients with symptoms of respiratory tract infection. Integrated sample-processing control ensures that the assay run is successful from extraction through amplification. Internal barcode scanning matches samples to cassettes, enabling position-independent results no matter where each cassette is placed. Data input errors are reduced by using electronic ordering through bidirectional laboratory information system connectivity. Lastly, targets can be masked so that only results of interest are reported.

Cryogenic Control Valves

Badger Meter control valves are an ideal choice when precise, reliable flow control is required in challenging ultra-low temperature applications, such as cryogenic or other similar situations. Available from liquids-handling specialists Pump Engineering, the extensive Badger range includes the Series 9000, an ANSI Class 300 globe-style valve with bolted bonnet and post-guided inner valve. Series 9000 valves are also available with specially configured options, including stellite inner valves, Teflon perfluoroalkoxy soft seating, graphite packing, double packing, extended bonnets up to 18 in., and bonnets fitted with cooling fins. A wide range of accessories are also available, including positioners, current-to-pressure positioners, transducers, gauges, filter regulators, solenoids, limit switches, actuators, and position transmitters. Series 9000 valves and their associated actuators are ideal for control of liquids and vapors across a wide range of industrial applications where there is a demand for compact, rugged, highly reliable control valves.

Primary Human Airway Cells

MatTek's Normal Human Bronchial Epithelial Cells (NHBE) provide a serum-free culture system to study cell–cell and cell–matrix interactions, drug effects, gene regulation, cell differentiation, tissue development, wound healing, inflammation, and toxic effects to the bronchial epithelium. They are available from nondiseased donors, as well as donors with well-characterized smoking history or diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Donor-matched bronchial fibroblasts are available upon request. NHBE cells exhibit cobblestone morphology in monolayer culture and are characterized by cytokeratin 14 expression. They are guaranteed to provide a minimum of 15 population doublings and ≥75% viability upon thaw when handled according to MatTek's NHBE protocol. All cells are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HIV-1, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C are not detected by PCR for all donors and cell lots. This product is for research use only and is not for use in animals, humans, or diagnostic purposes.

Chilling/Heating Dry Bath

The two-position EchoTherm Model IC22 Digital Chilling/Heating Dry Bath can be used for chilling or heating biological samples from –10°C to 100°C. The unit is two dry baths in one, saving valuable bench space. IC22 can run two separate or identical temperatures and two different sample blocks at the same time. It has a built-in data logger, 30-day countdown timer with alarm, and RS232 interface, making it ideal for use with robotic systems. IC22 can be used with standard accessory sample blocks for 0.5-mL, 1.5-mL, and 2.0-mL centrifuge tubes; PCR tubes and plates; 96-well and 384-well assay plates of all kinds; vials; and most test tube sizes. Custom blocks are available on special order. IC22 is perfect for enzyme reactions and deactivations; hybridizations; ligations; maintaining 17°C for storing oocytes; incubating samples at, above, or below room temperature; storing enzymes or DNA libraries; storing samples at ice bucket temperatures; and much more.

Heparan Sulfate Antibodies

AMS Biotechnology offers a suite of high-quality heparan sulfate antibodies from the important clones F69-3G10, F58-10E4, and JM403. These antibodies are ideal for targeted binding of heparan sulfate (HS) for heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) research, and provide a range of anti-HS antibodies recognizing distinct HS substructures, which have been well characterized in previous studies. HS is synthesized as the glycosaminoglycan component of HSPG, and is expressed on the cell surface of virtually all cell types and basement membranes. Many researchers are interested in examining the dynamic distribution of HSPG in tissues, and in analyzing HS structures to elucidate the biological functions of HSPG. The nonimmunogenic character of HS makes this type of antibody difficult to raise, so the few hybridoma-derived mouse anti-HS antibodies available, such as 3G10, 10E4, and JM403, are valuable tools. Using multiple HS antibodies that recognize subtle differences in HS patterning can be useful in applications such as flow cytometry, allowing multiple cell types to be directly compared.
