  • FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum) is a great invention

    I did not know that Hedy Lamarr invented FHSS (1). In 1997, I was the first user in Japan for experimenting FHSS devices made by BreezeCOM (2, 3). When experimenting FHSS devices, 2.4GHz band license was needed in Japan. Now 2.4GHz band is unlicensed all over the world. Inexpensive DSSS (direct sequence spread spectrum) devices have been spreading in the world. However, air-to-ground digital communications between air traffic control and airplanes, and drones communications have been dominated by FHSS technology. Hedy Lamarr's invention, FHSS has been prospering in our smart phones (Android and iPhone) with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices. FHSS will be globally used in IoT devices in the future. FHSS is indeed a great invention.
