Summary

“Vulnerable populations” describes a range of disadvantaged groups of a society. China is clearly not alone in grappling with this humanitarian problem. However, its continued social and economic progress faces challenges if this dilemma is not addressed. Domestic and international interdisciplinary research, from such fields as neuroscience, sociology, and psychology, are providing answers to this pressing issue.
