Use of Borosilicate Glass in Ozonizer Tubes

The surfaces of borosilicate glass deteriorate in the presence of ozone. The formation and accretion of silica particles in the glass ozone generating tube of a laboratory ozonizer, of the silent discharge type, are responsible for electric breakdown at high secondary voltages on the transformer.
