Trace (made with precision depth recorder) of the foot of the North American continent east of Eleuthera Island, Bahamas. The vertical exaggeration is 12 to 1. The sloping surface (left), with and inclination of 16 degrees, is the foot of the continental slope. The flat surface to the right is that of the Blake-Bahama Abyssal Plain, which occurs here at a depth of 4825 meters. See page 145.
