About The Cover

Intact vacuoles from flower petals from two Tulipa cultivars. Vacuoles were isolated by gentle osmotic rupture of enzymatically isolated protoplasts. Soluble anthocyanin pigments are contained in the sap of most vacuoles (about X 330). See page 1298. [G. J. Wagner and H. W. Siegelman, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York]
