About The Cover

Collage of domain shapes and patterns. The foreground figure illustrates a magnetic field-induced branching instability of a droplet in a thin layer of ferrofluid. The color graduation illustrates the evolution of the droplet's shape, and contours of successive intermediate states are superimposed. The background shows an ordered ``bubble'' domain pattern, recorded in a thin magnetic garnet film in the presence of a small magnetic field. See page 476. [Illustration: M. Seul and S. Cullerton.
