Summary
Both humans and mice are affected by mutations that apparently interfere with the migration of cortical neurons from their birthplace deep in the brain to their final destinations in the cortex. Recently, neuroscientists have begun cloning the genes at fault, and this should help them piece together the signaling pathways the neurons use in finding their way.
