Summary
Endocytosis, the formation of membrane vesicles that carry various cargo, is a crucial feature of a cell's transportation system. In a Perspective, Gillooly and Stenmark discuss new findings ( Ford et al. , and Itoh et al. ) showing that the membrane lipid PIP(phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate) is crucial for assembling the molecular machinery of endocytosis.
