COVER Direct analysis of plant tissue by ambient mass spectrometry. Charged microdroplets of water are sprayed onto the surface of a flower, and the released ions are vacuumed into a nearby mass spectrometer. This methodology is applicable to large biomolecules and small organics in complex natural matrices, including biological fluids and animal tissue. See page 1565. Photo: Z. Ouyang and T. A. Blake
