In science news around the world this week, Italian earthquake experts testified in their manslaughter trial, several of the United Kingdom's astronomical telescopes have received a stay of execution to finish ongoing projects, Japanese deep-sea drilling vessel Chikyu drilled through the fault that caused the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the disputed Senkaku Islands were deemed an ideal site for marine science research, and a pair of spy telescopes may be used to investigate astronomical questions.
