COVER Continuous liquid interface production (CLIP) uses a tunable photochemical process to rapidly transform 3D models into physical objects (such as this 9.2-cm-high Eiffel Tower). By balancing exposure of dissolved reagents to UV light, which triggers photopolymerization, and oxygen, which inhibits the reaction, Tumbleston et al. use CLIP to grow objects from a pool of resin at speeds 25 to 100 times faster than traditional layer-by-layer 3D printing.
