Universal Motorized Translation Stage

Providing a method to precisely move microscopes while allowing the sample to remain stationary, the new ZDP50K Translation Stage from Prior Scientific is compatible with all modern research microscopes. In many neuroscience applications, especially those involving electrophysiology, it is essential that the sample remain as stationary as possible, as vibration and movement can disrupt cellular observations and recording. However, experiments may require the ability to move the field of view. By using the ZDP50K, researchers can swiftly and precisely move any modern research microscope of up to 60 kg in weight to a desired position and quickly return to areas of interest without moving their sample. The ZDP50K provides unmatched quiet and smooth movement with zero-backlash operation over a travel range of 50 mm x 50 mm, with repeatability of ±3 µm and a step size of just 0.02 µm.

Recirculating Chillers

Thermo Scientific's new low-noise recirculating chillers are designed to remain quiet under all conditions while maintaining temperature control accuracy. Quiet performance of less than 58 dBA (decibels adjusted) promotes a reduced-stress environment in lab settings. ThermoFlex recirculating chillers are used to remove waste heat from laboratory or process equipment. In the lab, where the environment is relatively quiet, they reduce emitted sound pressure, limiting worker distractions and creating a safer, more ergonomic work environment. The turbine-style pump and stepper valve control are designed to allow for optimal reliability. Unlike other reduced-noise recirculating chillers, ThermoFlex units are specifically designed to remain quiet under challenging conditions, such as when air filters clog or during full loads. They support a variety of applications, including analytical, biotech, industrial, laser, metrology, pharmaceutical, packaging, printing, and research.

Epigenetic Aging Clock Services

Zymo Research offers a sample analysis service for academic and bio-pharma scientific researchers to determine the biological age of any human sample, other than sperm. The service quantifies changes in methylation patterns to accurately estimate biological age versus chronological age following drug treatments, and identifies disease-associated aging alterations. The sample analysis detects methylation changes at over 350 cytosine-phosphate-guanine (CpG) sites associated with aging. A detailed report will be provided, showing an accurate epigenetic age estimate. The service can be customized; however, all customers will receive the sample's chronological age, DNA age, age difference, and visualizations of those statistics. This service can facilitate research on such diseases as Huntington's disease, Down syndrome, or HIV-1.

NGS Familial Hypercholesterolemia Panel

Oxford Gene Technology (OGT) has expanded its customizable SureSeq NGS panel range with the launch of the SureSeq myPanel NGS custom FH panel—allowing fast and cost-effective study of variants in familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). The new panel delivers both single nucleotide variation and copy number variation detection on a single small NGS panel assay, and allows customization by "mix and match" of fully tested and optimized gene and hotspot content. This assay includes all exons for LDLR, PCSK9, APOB, LDLRAP1, APOE, LIPA, and STAP1, and 14 additional single-nucleotide polymorphisms. FH is characterized by high LDL (low-density lipoprotein) levels leading to early-onset coronary artery disease, which is treatable with statins. It is well characterized at the molecular level, with various genes and multiple point mutations described. OGT's FH panel will allow sequencing of all relevant gene regions in one assay.

96-Well Seed Genomics Plate

Porvair Sciences' 96-well Seed Genomics plate sets a new standard for high-throughput plant genomics sample preparation. Unlike most commercially available deep-well plates, the Seed Genomics plate has been proven to withstand demanding applications, using steel ball bearings in the wells—shaken at up to 1,500 rpm—to homogenize seeds, leaves, or tissue ready for DNA extraction. Manufactured from superior grade, ultraclean polypropylene, these plates are certified DNA/RNA and DNAse/RNAse free, and can be paired with a matching cap mat.

Avian Flu Monoclonal Antibodies

Choose the right monoclonal antibody for your avian influenza research. BioPorto Diagnostics offers high-quality Scandinavian monoclonal antibodies with low batch-to-batch variation. For example, the matched antibody pair BW 040 consists of FIA 028-31 (capture antibody) and FIA 039-16B (biotinylated detection antibody). Avian influenza virus H7 subtype antibodies are also available. Avian influenza refers to the disease caused by infection with avian (bird) influenza Type A viruses. Avian influenza viruses (AIVs) are classified into two categories: low pathogenic (LPAI) and high pathogenic (HPAI) viruses, which are defined by their pathogenicity in domestic poultry. Most AIVs are of the low pathogenic type and typically show little or no clinical signs. Once an H5 or H7 LPAI virus has been transmitted to chickens or turkeys, it has the potential to become an HPAI virus.
