  • Clumsiness must be examined in the medical entrance exam

Yumiko Murakami et al. wrote an article entitled “Japan needs gender equality” (1). Yumiko Murakami emphasized the gender equality. Yes, we know that the gender equality is important in our society. However, if you were a patient, you would like to see: clumsy & knowledge-rich doctor or skillful doctor? Of course, we would like to see skillful and knowledge-rich doctors. Generally, no entrance test in medical schools is given for examining his/her clumsiness. Therefore, you may have a chance to see a clumsy surgeon. Not only medical knowledge but also clumsiness of doctors should be examined and disclosed. Once you have obtained a license of medical doctor, it is permanently valid in Japan. In other words, without updating the latest medical knowledge, the medical doctors can practice in Japan. We need a license renewal system for checking the clumsiness and knowledge in Japan. The license to practice medicine in California must be renewed every two years (2). It is illegal to practice medicine with an expired license (2). We do care not gender but clumsiness and medical knowledge.
