Vacuum Pump

The VACUUBRAND PC 3001 VARIO select chemistry vacuum system brings touchscreen control to rotary evaporation, centrifugal concentration, and most other vacuum applications. Its integrated VACUU•SELECT controller provides an intuitive, smartphone-like interface to a powerful, speed-controlled 1.5-Torr, 34-lpm polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) diaphragm vacuum pump for whisper-quiet operation and service intervals measured in tens of thousands of hours. Use one of the many included routines or the drag-and-drop menus to construct your own custom application in seconds. Integrated solvent recovery completes the package.

Custom Cell Line Construction

Cell line construction can take up a lot of your valuable time when what really matters is the science you can do once you have the right cell line. That's why you should try System Bioscience's (SBI's) Stable Cell Line Services. Leverage our years of experience working with adherent and suspension cell lines, viral and nonviral construction technologies, and integrating and nonintegrating systems. Use our service to create custom cell lines with projects such as protein overexpression, fluorescent protein labels, luciferase labels, and reporters and tags. With fast turnaround times, competitive pricing, reliable success, and complete confidentiality—all projects are completed onsite in our Palo Alto, California, facility—SBI's Stable Cell Line Services maximize your scientific productivity while minimizing risks.

Wireless-Capable Color Camera

Equipped with a wireless local area network (WLAN)-capable Olympus EP50 camera, every microscope in a classroom becomes a wireless imaging system. This 5-megapixel camera can stream high-resolution images and full HD videos to mobile devices or WLAN-enabled PCs and laptops. When wired LAN is required, the EP50 can also be integrated into network structures using a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor. Users can control the camera via the free EPview app for mobile devices or with software for Windows PCs, offering annotating, measuring, image processing, and sharing functionality. Additionally, the EP50's onboard imaging software enables operation in stand-alone mode, without a computer or mobile device. In combination with the user's smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC, the EP50 is a convenient, cost-effective teaching and general training solution. Up to six students at a time can work on one microscope equipped with an EP50 and discuss, learn about, and store the camera's images. Larger groups of students can also connect their mobile devices to multiple microscopes equipped with the EP50 using LAN network environments.

Pooled-Donor Suspension Hepatocytes

Lonza's DonorPlex Hepatocytes are a line of high-quality cryopreserved pooled-donor suspension hepatocytes that researchers in DMPK (drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics) and ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) laboratories can now use to study the hepatic metabolism of drugs. Researchers typically need to use primary cryopreserved hepatocytes from many donors to obtain a statistically significant result. However, pooled-donor hepatocytes currently available commonly suffer from increased lot-to-lot variability and are unable to meet more specialized application needs. Lonza's patented manufacturing process ensures that DonorPlex Hepatocytes exhibit improved phenotype reproducibility. Furthermore, a proprietary algorithm that predicts yield, viability, and functional phenotype prior to manufacture ensures individual customer specifications are met. DonorPlex Hepatocytes offer a large, comprehensive inventory of cryopreserved single-donor suspension hepatocytes, which include a range of 10-, 20-, and 50-donor gender-specific and mixed-gender lots.

Integrated Raman Spectral Database Software

WITec, manufacturer of 3D Raman imaging systems, is now offering TrueMatch software, a powerful tool for accessing and creating Raman spectral databases. TrueMatch can search existing libraries of Raman spectra to identify sample components, and also allows users to create their own catalog of acquired spectra to assist in their research. It is available as a fully integrated option with the WITec Project FIVE software environment, and databases can be brought directly into use in postprocessing. Multispectral searches enable the user to identify several spectra simultaneously, while returning hit rates that show the probability of a match for each individual spectrum. The demixing search uses databases to describe acquired spectra in terms of pure substances, which can then be physically located in an image. Seeing the distribution of pure chemical components matched to sample features gives the researcher a precise visualization. Generated reports can be stored for further use in subsequent measurements, amplifying the system's effectiveness and turning meaningful results into a valuable resource.

Optical Coherence Tomography

The TEL210PSC2 and TEL220PSC2 from Thorlabs are polarization‐sensitive spectral‐domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems that provide highly reproducible, robust 2D and 3D imaging and analysis of polarizing samples. These new systems are available in both long‐range (TEL210PS) and general‐purpose (TEL220PS—5.5-μm axial resolution) variants. Each offers the same low roll-off and high-sensitivity performance found in other members of the Telesto OCT family. In addition, the user can switch between different A‐scan rate presets (ranging from 5 kHz to 76 kHz) to achieve an optimal balance between sensitivity and imaging speed. The unique polarization‐sensitive detection and evaluation package allows for the analysis of parameters such as retardation, optic axis, and the degree of polarization uniformity. Users can purchase a complete, preconfigured system, which includes a scanner with dedicated imaging objective, scanner stand, and sample manipulation stage, or opt for a user‐configurable solution and choose from a large selection of modular components.
