Summary

In science news around the world, Russia suspends work to convert an Iranian military site into a civilian research center, a side effect of the gradual unraveling of the nuclear deal that world powers struck with Iran in 2015 to deter it from pursuing nuclear weapons. The European Space Agency taps a Swiss company to launch in 2025 the first mission to remove a piece of debris from orbit. Publishers investigate whether authors failed to obtain informed consent from hundreds of Chinese minority group members in multiple published research studies, including at least three about technologies that China's police may be using to oppress minorities. The island nation of Samoa reports a large measles outbreak, originally stoked by fears about the vaccine for the highly infectious disease, continues to surge but a vaccination drive has now covered the majority of eligible residents.
