Automated Peptide Synthesizer

Gyros Protein Technologies introduces PurePep Chorus, its next-generation automated peptide synthesis platform. The scalable instrument and software platform enables production of even the most challenging sequences at the highest-possible crude purity and yield. It has a modular design and can be purchased with—or lab-upgraded to include—two, four, or six channels, with independent induction heating and real-time UV monitoring on two or more channels, depending upon researchers' needs and budgets. PurePep also employs flexible programming and Single-Shot additions, to eliminate the need for priming while minimizing waste when using special amino acids and reagents. The instrument incorporates an intuitive software interface that simplifies the chemist's workflows and accelerates setup with preprogrammed methods, while being fully compliant with 21 CFR Part 11.

Automated Sequencing

Complex library prep workflows are fully automated on the Ion Chef System to deliver reproducible data on any Ion Torrent sequencer, even from degraded samples such as FFPE DNA, or RNA samples. When paired with the Ion GeneStudio S5 System and Ion AmpliSeq panels, the Ion Chef enables a walkaway, targeted NGS workflow with just 45 min of hands-on time, so that you can focus on finding meaningful answers to your research questions. The Ion Chef simplifies the Ion Torrent NGS workflow by integrating automated template preparation and chip loading in a single instrument for maximum efficiency and throughput. Simply select the run parameters using the intuitive touchscreen interface, load the library samples, reagents, and consumables, and go.

High-Volume Nucleic Acid Extraction

The ID NIMBUS Presto assay ready workstation from Hamilton Company offers fast, hands-free nucleic-acid extraction of high-volume evidentiary samples, such as calcified tissues and other challenging samples. Up to 24 or 96 samples in volumes ranging from 50 µL–5,000 µL may be processed simultaneously in microplate or deep-well plate format for use in sensitive downstream analyses. ID NIMBUS Presto includes a deck-mounted KingFisher Presto purification system from Thermo Fisher Scientific, and uses magnetic particle-based technology to facilitate rapid, high-quality purification without the risks of manual variability and errors. Barcode scanning automatically creates a chain of custody to independently verify each sample and correlate it with the case file and assigned analyst. Air-displacement pipetting technology bypasses the risk of liquid-induced contamination; and for superior pipetting accuracy, Hamilton's Compressed O-Ring Expansion (CO-RE) tips are recommended for use with ID NIMBUS Presto. In addition to liquid handling, on-deck gripper paddles use CO-RE technology to transport samples without the need for manual interactions. A user-friendly interface guides analysts through assay setup and displays pertinent information regarding each processing step. Additionally, all robotic actions and sample locations may be downloaded for inclusion in case-file documentation.

Nucleic Acid Purification System

The Ionic Purification System from Purigen Biosystems is a small benchtop system that uses the company's proprietary isotachophoresis (ITP) technology to extract, purify, and concentrate nucleic acids from biological samples in 1 h with less than 3 min of hands-on time per sample. It enables the automated extraction of nucleic acids with dramatically increased yields and improved purity from a wide range of sample types, including cultured or sorted cells and FFPE tissues. Biological samples are gently lysed, then loaded into the Ionic Fluidics Chip. The Ionic system then applies an electric field to the chip, and the nucleic acids are isolated in their natural, native form using our ITP technology. The nucleic acids are not denatured or dehydrated, and there is no binding or stripping from fixed surfaces. The process minimizes fragmentation and eliminates bead or buffer contamination. The extracted nucleic acids are pure, abundant, and ready for analysis by any downstream technique, including NGS or PCR.

Robotic Liquid-Handling Instrument

Tecan's Cavro Magni Flex OEM robotic liquid-handling instrument is a modular, scalable solution intended for low- to medium-throughput workflows, offering the flexibility and functionality to quickly and easily create innovative automation systems for virtually any life sciences application, from immunoassay processing to molecular diagnostics. A variety of carriers, cutouts, and custom grids are available to create any number of layouts. The system is available with a choice of two, four, or eight independent pipetting channels. The platform's liquid-handling arm offers variable tip spacing capabilities (independent channels)—to suit different labware types and enable reformatting activities—and can act as both a pipettor and gripper, optimizing use of available space. Supplied with Tecan's MAPlinx development software kit—which includes high-level functional commands for straightforward programming, a worktable editor with virtual library and drag-and-drop features, and a 3D simulator to simplify software testing—the Cavro Magni Flex aims to accelerate instrument development and time to market.
