In science news around the world, the anti-inflammatory drug tocilizumab is shown to cut the death risk of people hospitalized with COVID-19, reduce their need for a mechanical ventilator, and shorten time spent in the hospital—only the second therapeutic shown to reduce deaths in severe cases of the disease.
