The impact of HLA-C 5′ expression polymorphism rs9264942 on the set point is independent of its association with HLA alleles and groups of alleles previously implicated in HIV-1 control. The addition of rs9264942 to the linear regression model significantly improves the fit for all HLA alleles or groups of alleles that have been suspected to have an influence on HIV disease.
